How to add a new patient with a CBCT scan
Add records by clicking the New Patient button.
Fill in the patient’s information in the required fields.
On this page, you find the option to upload a DICOM file by clicking on the 3D button.
File Upload Options:
Single DICOM File:
Select this option if you have a single DICOM file with a .dcm extension.
Multi-Slice Directory:
Choose this if multiple DICOM slices are stored in one folder. Ensure all files in the folder have the .dcm extension and avoid including non-DICOM files to prevent upload errors.
Zip/RAR File:
Use this for compressed DICOM files. Make sure the archive contains only DICOM files with .dcm extensions.
STL File:
Select this to upload an STL file from an Intra-Oral Scan (IOS).
Customize Processing Options
Locate the wheel icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
Click the icon to open the dropdown menu.
From the menu, select the processing options you’d like to apply to your uploaded CBCT file:
2D Extraction: Generates a cephalometric image.
Teeth Segmentation: Extracts teeth-only segmentation.
Bone Segmentation: Provides bone-only segmentation.
Nerve Segmentation: Identifies and segments nerves only.
Airways: Creates a 3D visualization of the airways.
Click the gray area to select a file, or simply drag and drop it to upload. A progress bar will display the upload status. Please avoid interrupting the upload or leaving the page until the process is complete.
After the upload is complete, you will be redirected to the Patients List screen. A pop-up message will appear to inform you about the processing time, which may take several minutes or longer.
Once the upload is complete, you will receive both an on-screen confirmation message and an email confirming that the CBCT scan was successfully uploaded.
What the 3D Status Marks Mean
The system uses visual indicators to display the status of the segmentation process:
Green Checkmark – The segmentation has been successfully completed and is ready for use.
Hourglass Icon – Appears after the file upload and remains visible while the system is segmenting the CBCT, IOS file, or both.
Red X – Indicates that the DICOM file has failed to process. This error may occur for a variety of reasons. Please refer to the Error Upload section for troubleshooting steps. If the issue persists, you may need to resubmit the case or contact support for further assistance.
Red Warning Sign – Indicates one of the following conditions:
Suspected Airway Obstruction
Nerve-to-Tooth Proximity Detected. Alerts when the AI identifies a potential nerve-to-tooth proximity concern.
Export and download STL options
From the Patient List, select the desired patient by clicking on their name once. The row will be highlighted in blue.
Under the 3D Actions column, click on the Export button.
A pop-up window will appear with the following options:
Segmented STL from CBCT
Generates and downloads a 3D model of the patient’s teeth and jawbones, segmented from CBCT scan data. Available only after uploading a CBCT scan.
Stitched Crown STL from CBCT
Generates and downloads an STL file containing a 3D model of the patient’s crowns, stitched from CBCT scan data. Available only after uploading both CBCT (DICOM) and IOS (STL) scans.
Segmented Crowns from IOS
Generates and downloads a 3D model of the patient’s crowns, segmented from IOS scan data. Available when an IOS (STL) file is uploaded, or when both CBCT and IOS files are uploaded.
Segmentation Video
Downloads a video demonstrating the automatic segmentation of the CBCT scan from multiple angles. Available only after uploading a CBCT scan.
Airway Report
Downloads a detailed report with measurements and analysis of the patient’s airway, based on CBCT scan data. Available when viewing both jaws or using a larger field of view.
Select the desired option and click Download. The chosen files will then be saved to your computer.
